Jimmy is a dedicated educator, leader, and community servant whose journey reflects a lifelong commitment to education and empowerment. Inspired by his parents’ dedication to mentoring, he developed a passion for helping others achieve their goals from an early age. His childhood school desegregation experience, coupled with great mentors and Division 1 athletics, laid the groundwork for his career in coaching, leadership development, and education.

Recognized as one of the top twenty-five most influential African Americans in his region, Jimmy has held various roles in education, including middle and high school administrator and school district leader. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated a strong commitment to mentorship and leadership development, both locally and nationally.
Jimmy’s impact on education and leadership spans decades, with a focus on fostering diversity and equity within the education system. Notably, while serving as a high school principal, he grew his enrollment by twenty-five percent, achieved the second-highest state assessment scores for African American students among eleven high schools in his district, and maintained a performing plus school rating despite having fifty-five percent of his student body on individualized education plans (IEPs).
During his tenure as a school district leader, he pioneered a program aimed at recruiting underserved students into advanced placement courses, leading to the establishment of the Advanced Learning Experiences department. Further evidencing his dedication, Jimmy spearheaded a STEM summer enrichment program that later expanded district wide. This initiative not only enriched educational experiences but also fostered interest and participation in STEM fields. Additionally, Jimmy’s leadership in establishing Response to Intervention (RTI) Specialist positions emphasized his commitment to addressing diverse learners’ needs and improving academic outcomes, particularly for minority students, with these RTI positions being duplicated district wide.

His tireless advocacy for inclusivity and empowerment has left an indelible mark on his community, empowering students from all backgrounds to realize their full potential and championing initiatives aimed at fostering equity and access in education and beyond.

Today, Jimmy’s focus has expanded beyond traditional education roles. He now serves as an author, coach, speaker, and trainer, dedicating his efforts to uplifting individuals and collaborating with organizations to enhance the quality of support and service within school communities. One of his significant contributions is the development of the R.A.I.ful© Schools Framework, which revolutionizes how schools approach diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, placing a strong emphasis on practices that are responsive to students’ needs.
