Dr. Marcus Scott
Dr. Marcus Scott IV is an accomplished educator, leader, and advocate for educational reform, known for his dedication to putting students first, student success and school improvement. With a rich background in education spanning over two decades (19 as a school administrator), Dr. Scott has made significant contributions to the field through his innovative leadership, commitment to excellence, and transformational approach for creating positive learning environments leading to dramatic increases in student achievement.
Dr. Scott holds a Doctor of Education in Education Leadership from Trevecca University, along with a host of other academic achievements including an Education Specialist degree and a Master of Education in Education Leadership from Cambridge College. He also earned a Bachelor of Science in Middle School Education from Armstrong Atlantic State University and Savannah State University.
Throughout his career, Dr. Scott has held various leadership positions, showcasing his expertise in educational administration, curriculum development, and community engagement. Notably, he has served as a principal, assistant principal, school board member, classroom teacher, college professor, President of the Georgia Association for Alternative Education, President of his non-profit Scott’s All Stars, and a leader in many statewide initiatives.
Dr. Scott’s commitment to educational excellence extends beyond the school walls. He is the founder and president of the Scott’s All*Stars, a youth program that had a 100% college entrance rate, demonstrating his versatility and adaptability in diverse educational settings. He is the founder of the Educational Hotline, a radio show/Facebook live that discuss educational issues, real estate agent, youth mentor, and philanthropist.
Dr. Scott’s impact has been profound as a principal over the past ten years. He has led schools through significant transformations, focusing on improving student achievement, fostering positive school culture, and implementing data-driven decision-making processes. Under his leadership, schools have seen remarkable improvements in academic performance, attendance rates, graduation rates, and overall school climate. His leadership at Building Bridges, an alternative program he started, not only resulted in a 100% graduation rate for four consecutive years but lead to him being asked to lead the middle and high school at the same time. At Myers Middle School, Dr. Scott’s strategic interventions successfully removed the school from the Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI) list, a designation for schools needing intensive support. Under his five-year tenure, Myers Middle School achieved unprecedented, substantiable academic gains, earning the 2023 GASSP Breakout School Award and 2023 HMH Model School. The school had its highest ranking in its history during his tenure. These accomplishments also earned him recognition as a 2024 Georgia Principal of the Year finalist.
In addition to his leadership roles, Dr. Scott is a sought-after speaker, presenter, and mentor in the field of education. He has shared his expertise and insights at conferences, workshops, and seminars, inspiring educators, and administrators to strive for excellence and embrace innovative practices in education.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Dr. Scott is deeply involved in his community and various educational organizations. He is a member of several professional associations, including the American Association of School Administrators (AASA) and the Georgia School Board Association (GSBA). He is also actively engaged in church and youth activities, reflecting his commitment to holistic personal and community development.
On a personal note, Dr. Scott is a devoted family man. He is the proud father of two children, Marcus V and Maliyah, and the loving husband of Elisia Scott. He is also the son of Marcus Scott III and Marilyn Brown.
